How to Join

Application to become a member of the Mayflower Society is made through your particular State organization, not the General Society of Mayflower Descendants in Massachusetts.

If you think you may have "A Pilgrim In You", here's what you need to join:

Important Information

California Residents: Please visit the California Mayflower website and complete the inquiry form.

Non-California Residents: Please visit your State's Website for a review form.

Note: Approved applications from DAR and other societies will NOT be accepted as primary documentation by this society.

State Autonomy: Each State Society is an autonomous organization. If you live in California, you will apply to us for membership.

Application Steps

Step 1

Initial Inquiry

Complete the inquiry form on the California Mayflower website

  • California Residents: Visit the California Mayflower website and complete the inquiry form
  • Non-California Residents: Visit your State's Website for a review form
  • Our State Historian will contact you and send you a Preliminary Review Form
  • DO NOT SEND SUPPORTIVE DOCUMENTATION OR ANY PROOF AT THIS TIME
  • You will be assigned to our Colony Membership Chair (CMC)
  • No application fee is required at this time
Step 2

Preliminary Review

Work with the CMC to determine if your line is plausible

  • The CMC will review your form to determine if your line is plausible
  • If your line is possible to a Mayflower passenger, you'll receive a "Preliminary Application for Membership" form
  • Complete the form and provide sources for each generation
  • Work directly with the CMC to ensure documentation meets guidelines
  • The CMC will meet with you to sign your application when ready
Step 3

Final Application

Submit your fully documented application for approval

  • When documentation is complete, your application will be sent to the State Historian for approval
  • The application will then be sent to Plymouth for National approval
  • Your final application will require your signature and an application fee
  • The signed application and documentation will be sent to Plymouth for final review
